This WBT familiarizes the trainee with terrain awareness systems (TWAS) or ground proximity warning systems (GPWS).
For a given occasion, your neighbor Anna is a little worried about flying into mountainous terrain. A few questions later, you introduce design and indications to her. Then, system operation and pilot´s responses to certain system warnings are explained. Finally, the problem of controlled flight into terrain (CFIT) and respective counter measures are discussed from a threat and error management perspective. The WBT serves as initial and refresher training.
